National Phylloxera Management Protocol
Click here to go to previous page

The National Phylloxera Management Protocol has been developed by the National Vine Health Steering Committee (NVHSC) to prevent the spread of grapevine phylloxera. Through the application of a uniform national protocol viticultural-based industries across Australia will be better placed to maintain and improve the security and quality of production. Industries will be able to achieve the highest attainable phytosanitary status in germplasm collections, accredited planting material and vineyards.

Status upgrade procedures (remote sensing)

and alternative (remote sensing) download PDF - describes the procedure
involved in obtaining an upgrade in status from PRZ to PEZ status
or from PIZ to PRZ status. Includes special provisions for emerging
wine regions (short grapegrowing history). The alternative procedure
includes a provision for aerial surveying as part of the survey protocol.

Pest risk analysis for establishment of a new infestation of phylloxera

- examines the risk that phylloxera could be transferred from one vineyard to another during harvest operations. Takes into account different vectors for transporting the insect and uses latest experimental evidence to estimate population numbers and survival rates through different stages of the harvest process from picking to fermentation download PDF (181kb)
